The subtle art of energy gains vs. drains 🔋

Hey Reader...

What's something on your to-dos this week that you're absolutely dreading?

Taylor here 👋 I’ve been thinking a lot about how to make the tasks I dread more fun. 👀 So, I left Josh a public voicemail about it and he responded from the forest (yes, you’ll literally hear the leaves crunching below him) with his new way of marking energy drains and gains on his to-dos/calendar.

If you’re thinking about how to end your work day without feeling like the gas tank is running low, totally eavesdrop and listen to our latest voicemails to each other.👇 Feel free to leave a comment or drop an emoji back.

This week’s surprise & delight ✨

🍜 Question to noodle on: are you treating your top goal for November as truly #1 (which requires deprioritizing other things)? OR, is your number 1 priority just being treated as another thing on your list? Too often goals fall into the ladder. Shoutout to Lauren St. Germain🪩 for this.

🪴 For better WFH boundaries: If you have a Mac, set up two profiles so that at the end of the work day you can log into your personal account. It’s like a digital commute!

📱 A way to volunteer virtually: help someone who is blind for a few minutes as you work from home, it’s on-demand just like Groove! I once helped someone fix their TV, another determine the expiration date on milk, and another find a subway entrance.

💻 Job boards with WFH opportunities: for anyone searching or to pass along to friends.

🔗 A link to send when you mess up an email: send a very human follow-up like this, “Since I’m in your inbox again, here’s a fun link in case you want to let off some steam. You can catch me screaming into the void, “ERGGGG I just sent an email with a broken link to 5k people!!!”

New episode with Olivia Dreizen Howell 🎙️

Finding Your Groove is a storytelling podcast, all about peeling back the curtain on others living life their way to help it feel even more possible for us to do the same. In this episode, Olivia opens up about starting her different businesses, why she wrote a book, the power of sharing online, and how she’s embraced celebrating new beginnings like her divorce.

After being asked a question on her Instagram channel about voting, Olivia decided to co-create Vote Without Fear, a non-partisan platform, ahead of the U.S. election season. As Olivia mentions, sometimes a simple question can be the start of a great new project.

🍭 A sweet episode tease: tune in to hear how a high school play took a turn and how Olivia came up with 250+ scripts for what to say in a hard moment (like a friend losing a baby)

Smiles and aha moments guaranteed: listen now or watch it here 🎧

Celebration corner 🎉

We’re big believers that seeing others live life their way makes it more possible for all of us to do things our way. Sending high-fives to these humans!

  • Elysha Johnson🪩 launched a new offering (free 20-minute strategic rest sessions) for leaders interested in exploring ways to weave rest into their schedules and leverage it as a powerful productivity tool.
  • Laura Zug🪩 is putting a new goal out into the world to increase her newsletter following in November (as mentioned at this month's Goal Planning Party)
  • Alice Katter (our next podcast guest!) just announced her latest program for how to design your life (and work!) in a way that feels more joyful, aligned, and sustainable.
  • Cate Scott Campbell🪩 launched a new 3-part workshop for creative humans having trouble positioning themselves when we’re the kinds of people who “do it all” (how relatable!!).
  • Sharon Leung🪩 helps people find flow in their space (like therapy for your home/office!) and just had her first consultation with a fellow Groover, which melted my heart!

Are you celebrating something? We’d love the chance to celebrate you in a future newsletter! Send us a short email with the deets. Seriously.

Looking ahead 👀

This Wednesday at noon ET, tune into our next podcast episode with Alice Katter, who gets real about what it’s like to stay grounded while living a nomadic lifestyle. If you’re looking to incorporate more moments of aliveness in your day-to-day, embrace the different seasons of your life and career, and figure out how to manage the messiness of not having a map for what’s next, this next episode is for you!

🙏 Thanks for reading! As always, we're only an email away. Reply with your thoughts!

🎁 Alsoooo, we're putting together a holiday gift guide with a bunch of Groover-made products...so, hit reply by November 14th to send us a link to your book, Etsy shop, candle company, tarot cards, music albums, journals, etc.

Catch you again in 2 weeks, 💃 🕺

Taylor here! Writing this while sipping on maple iced coffee while watching New York City pigeons bop around outside my window… I’ve written this newsletter twice a month for 3.5 years, totaling 86 separate editions. Today we're entering a new era. 🎉 Before this newsletter was sent just to members of the Groove community, but I know there are many people, who would benefit from the stories, resources, and encouragement being shared among us. So, I'm opening the doors a bit wider; Groovers...
